I am Marcia Thomson, providing full service retail and service business consulting.

I have been working with entrepreneurs, business managers, professional corporations and investors for many years. I like the work. It involves marketing plans and customer service, best practice customer service for dentists, chiropractor offices, office set ups, store layouts, inventory controls, Open to Buy Plans, merchandising, new product ideas, retirement and store closings.

It is interesting because businesses have many different challenges, and wonderful ideas. Most of the groups I work with are hardworking, warm, wonderful people. Oh yes some are jerks-both men and women-with egos beyond belief. The egos need to be set aside. They make the job so much harder. It is at these times I wonder why they wanted a consultant in the first place, and why am I here trying to do this job. I know how to do the project that needs to be done. I have seen all the different areas of involvement and know the best approach for success. I am one of the best in the business.

After years of traveling all over this beautiful country, being gone weeks and months at a time I began thinking about another way to do some of this. I love, admire and have great respect for small business owners and entrepreneurs, they are without a doubt the most passionate, generous, helpful people anywhere. When they have a need for a consultant I did not want to give up that contact.

We have a very comfortable home. It is my nest. My husband, who has not been able to work for several years does all he can to keep up the everyday chores. He does a wonderful job. Many years I have been gone from home 225 days or more. Too Much! I have spent far too many nights in one room at motels, hotels all over the country. Doing some very interesting jobs, and meeting wonderful business people of all colors, shapes and sizes with passion for their business. And I should add earning money. WHAT AM I THINKING? I want to spend more time at home, but I need income for us.

I spend time on the internet. It is for me great for marketing, mailings, and research. I came across some very well done and interesting web sites and found out three out of four were Site Build It. That is when my thoughts of the possibility to cut down some of the business travel and work more from home became serious.

I bought Site Build It for a web site 14 months ago. I began my planning. My very talented technical designer, writer and editor Mary Liz came to give much needed help. We worked many long hours and completed as much as possible before she had to leave and I had a contract so would also be going. I was gone until June. Took time to spend with family and enjoy being home. The rest of the summer was spent painting our house. I did the ladder climbing with my husband helping any way he could. Finished in September. Took us all summer but remember I was the boss on this job so worked at my pace, which was the same as a turtle; slow but steady. NOW it was time to return to my web site, which had been left "blowing in the wind" last January. Again I turned to my talented Mary Liz and she once more came to help. We made many changes and additions. This is still a work in progress. Yes it has been a lot of work, but to me when it is something I love it doesn’t feel like work. It is a matter of continuing the progress and to grow. And I might add, increasing my income. My motivation is to help entrepreneurs and small business.

In these very difficult financial times we need to help each other if we can. If it is problems or ideas, I can help. That is why I am here.
